The Studienkolleg is a bridge institution for international university applicants whose school diploma does not directly qualify them for studies in Germany.
After successfully passing the assessment examination (FSP), you receive the subject-specific or general university entrance qualification for German universities.
At L.A.N.E.S. Germany, we prepare you optimally for the requirements of the Studienkolleg and the assessment examination so that you can successfully begin your studies in Germany.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
A regular Studienkolleg usually lasts two semesters (1 year). The duration can vary: intensive courses often last only 6-8 months, while courses with additional language preparation can take up to 1.5 years. The exact duration depends on your prior knowledge, the chosen course direction, and the requirements of the respective university.
In some cases, yes. If your school diploma is directly recognized as equivalent to the German Abitur (e.g., International Baccalaureate, certain European diplomas), you don't need a Studienkolleg. Alternatively, you can also take the assessment examination externally without attending the Studienkolleg. However, this requires intensive independent preparation, which we can support you with.
After successfully completing the Studienkolleg and the assessment examination, you have the same study opportunities as German Abitur graduates. You can study at all German universities that offer your chosen subject. Professional prospects then depend on your subsequent degree. Many international graduates of German universities find attractive positions in German companies or international corporations.
