Since the second half of the year 2014, the specialist language examination for foreign dentists has been conducted in the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Commerce (Kammerbereich Nordrhein (ZÄK NR) ) by the Düsseldorf and Cologne District Governments. The 60-minute examination of 20 minutes each is divided into three sections – dentist-patient interview, documentation, dentist-dentist interview – and refers only to the medical language and not to the basic knowledge of dentistry.the language course for dentists prepares the Students in Duisburg and Düsseldorf for the final examination
First the candidate in the dentist patient conversation with a fictitious patient accomplishes a clearly structured anamnesis talk, as it belongs also in hospitals and medical practices of the everyday life.
Diagnosis Then the physician experiences the history of the patient in the anamnesis talk. In addition he can gain important additional references and information by asking questions. Afterwards the examinee describes their suspected diagnosis and gives the patient suggestions for further treatment and therapy. It is important that the patient is able to understand the examinee safely and accurately. The examinee then receives a prepared form from ZÄK NR. In this form the examinee transfers the anamnesis including a justified presentation of the suspected diagnosis, differential diagnostic distinctions and the presentation of further procedures.
In the dentist-dentist-conversation the examinee receives the written report / doctor’s letter. The examinee introduces the patient in consideration of the dental terminology. In this context, the examinee should also explain his own evaluation and his ideas for further treatment, with the examiner asking questions in this context. The examiners can also submit further documents to the patient, which the examinee should evaluate.
This intensive course will therefore teach you the important basics of dental terminology. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at this event.
In order to obtain a licence to practise dentistry, you must present certain documents and proofs. You will need the language examination on level B2. You will also need the C1 level language test and the knowledge test (study of medicine in a non-EU country).
The training teaches specialist language and communication skills in the field of dentistry. The aim is to pass the C1 level examination for dentists and the training is structured as follows:
Module I: 8 weeks
Basics of dental communication. Technical terms and communication structures.
Module II: 4 weeks
In this course you will learn more about the technical language you have already learned and how to use it in simulated patient scenarios.
At the end of the course there will be a patient communication test in dentistry, which all participants have to pass. In addition, these advanced courses are taught by qualified teachers in the field of dentistry.
Participation requirements for“Communication Module I and II”
You should have completed a university degree in dentistry and have language skills on level B2. In addition, you should pass the placement test.
The purpose of the examination is to determine the level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in Dentistry, both written and oral. In addition, the examination consists of three parts, as follows:
Part 1 consists of a dentists-dentists conversation. The examinee documents the contents correctly and completely.
In addition, the examinee writes short but correct documentation on patient data with the help of dental notes.
This part of the test takes 20 minutes.
Part 2 of the test is a dentist-dentist conversation. In a simulated dental interview, the examinee shows that he or she can reproduce the complaints completely and correctly. This part of the examination also lasts 20 minutes.
Part 3 deals with dentist-patient communication and patient education. The examinee has to simulate an educational conversation with the patient and explain, for example, the progression of the disease and other risks.
The examination lasts 20 minutes.
