A Telc exam documents language competence in the areas of listening, reading, speaking and writing. The Telc language certificate can be used as official proof. It is almost always recognised: by public authorities as well as by universities or companies. for education, study and profession.LANES tests in Duisburg, Essen and Düsseldorf the German knowledge needed for success at an advanced academic level. The examination is suitable for students who are interested in studying at German institutes of higher education.
The European Language Certificates were created in 1968 as the first standardised language examination in the German language. The goal was to establish a standardized form of the German tests and to constantly ensure quality. As a result, Telc gGmbH was founded in 2006. Telc examinations were very successful and as a consequence they spread in Germany and abroad.
the language examinations can be taken at over 3,000 examination centres in 20 countries, including adult education centres and private language schools.
Examination dates can be set independently by each school (examination centre); the prices of the examinations also depends on the school. The results of the tests are available after four to six weeks. Telc certificates are valid for an unlimited period of time.
The exam always consists of a written and an oral part. In the written part there is reading comprehension and listening comprehension. Depending on the test, reading comprehension is followed by a grammar or vocabulary section. Because the test takes longer, there is a break between the parts on the higher levels. Finally, at the end of the written part of the exam, the participants always have to write an essay.
NThe oral examination can take place on the day of the written examination or on another day. From the intermediate level onwards, the participants prepare themselves for the examination with a task sheet. Depending on the level, it may be a pair or group examination.
In addition to the general language examinations, which are based on a CEFR level, there are also examinations with special focuses.
The German language test for immigrants at levels A2 and B1 is also offered by Telc. It is important for integration and citizenship. There are also examinations with a professional language focus, e.g. on level B1. In addition, vocabulary, grammatical structures and means of speaking are trained here. In addition, there are examinations at various levels for doctors and medical staff, as well as examinations that allow to study at a German university.
